Ngamba Island Tented Camp

This tented camp on Ngamba Island provides the sole lodging on the island as well as the rare opportunity to interact with young chimps by accompanying them on an early morning trek through the bush. Visitors can also volunteer to be caregivers, assisting keepers behind the scenes and caring for the young chimps. (All chimpanzee encounters require prior medical clearance and vaccines.)

Ngamba Island Tented Camp includes four classic safari tents on the beaches of Lake Victoria, each with comfortable twin beds, en-suite facilities, and a private veranda overlooking the lake. The camp has two dining/communal areas: a big A-frame building with a lounge and dining amenities, and an outside decking area for sundowners and nighttime meals.

Guests staying at the camp can observe two midday feedings, as well as early morning and nighttime feeds, at their holding facility. Other activities include sunset cruises, watching some of the island's various bird species, and visiting a small fishing hamlet.
