Cuckooland, located on 10 acres of secondary forest on the outskirts of the national park, is a paradise for birdwatchers, insect collectors, botanists, and other naturalists, as well as anyone seeking to immerse themselves in nature in complete peace and quiet.
We have over 300 bird species on our list, more than 70 named indigenous tree species, and over 40 new moth species discovered here.
Over the previous year, we've noticed an increase in butterfly populations, including rare species like papilio antimachus parva and charax fournierae.
Over the previous year, I've photographed over 120 different species of butterflies here. Six species of primates, including chimps, are frequently spotted at the lodge, some of which are semi-resident.
The location boasts beautiful views of the forest and is overrun with flowers, trees, and other greenery.
Accommodation is provided in secluded, self-contained tent-houses constructed primarily from local materials and located near the national park's perimeter.
The lodge is approximately 2 kilometers from the nearest other dwellings and equally far from the road. As a result, visitors may enjoy complete peace and quiet at the lodge, with only the sounds of the forest and river below.
Cuckooland Bwindi Ruhija Restaurant.
We also serve delicious, nutritious cuisine, much of it grown in our vegetable gardens.
Guests must walk down the hill from the parking park for 10 minutes to reach the lodge.
Cuckooland is approximately a 35-minute drive from Ruhija, the nearest gorilla tracking center.
