This tender, empathetic film recently premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) to great reviews and already opened to acclaim in many countries earlier. Xiaowei travels to Thailand to find his "billionaire grandfather" whom debt problems have kept out of contact, but he unexpectedly finds that the one who has been corresponding with his grandmother for years is not her husband. Instead, he uncovers a lifelong act of love and sacrifice. Inspired by overseas Chinese traditions, Dear You has become a breakout success. To make this film, writer / director Hongchun Lan visited more than 300 Chinese immigrant families in Southeast Asia, Europe & America, to verify the authenticity of the story.
