"Whatever happens, you always have us." Umbrella Entertainment has unveiled the official Kiwi trailer for
I, Object, a coming-of-age indie drama from New Zealand opening this winter down there. It's opening in July but it doesn't have any US release set yet - hopefully sometime not too long after this opening.
I, Object is written and directed by acclaimed sci-fi filmmaker
Andrew Niccol, director of
Gattaca,
S1m0ne,
Lord of War,
In Time,
The Host,
Good Kill, and
Anon – his latest film from back in 2018. This heartfelt film follows Tom, a 10-year-old boy with a vivid imagination who sees faces in everyday objects. After the sudden death of his father, Tom retreats into a fantastical world they once shared, connecting with all these items around him! Starring
Bentley Storteboom as Tom, with
Skywalker Hughes,
Anna Faris,
Tom Kerr, &
Karl Urban. This also reminds me of that
IF: Imaginary Friends movie with a somewhat similar concept about a kid finding comfort in befriending all these objects. Niccol giving us a family friend film this time around. //
