Dystopian Sci-Fi Japanese Gameshow Thriller 'Quiztopia' Full Trailer
"Japan's civility will be tested. The curtain rises on Japan's delirious wonderland." So this is Japan's Squid Game? Netflix has revealed the official trailer for a new Japanese series called Quiztopia, a dystopian sci-fi thriller about a dangerous gameshow called "Quiztopia" with the ultimate prize. Set for release on Netflix worldwide starting in December. So how does it work? Win: any wish is granted. Lose: go into forced labor. When a bitter girl and rebels target a national quiz show's iconic host, an alternate Japan spirals into chaos. A charismatic host runs a deadly quiz where winners get any wish and losers pay dearly. His world unravels when rebels target him. Sounds awesome! Another revolutionary gameshow series! Bring it on. Quiztopia stars Takayuki Yamada as the host KK, along with Riko Ishida, Kana Kurashina, Koji Seto, Rin Kataoka, Yuzu Aoki, Naruki Matsukawa, Yuki Imai, Shunsuke Daitoh, Kou Maehara, Hoshino Disco, First Summer Uika, Keiko Horiuchi. The series' street-level chaos — crowds glued to screens in bars, at home and on giant public monitors — was brought to life with a total of 8,000 extras across the shoot. Based on the manga "Kokumin Kuizu" by Reiichi Sugimoto. "Where do you draw the line? Is this the kind of Japan you’ll accept — or reject?" This is clearly another capitalism metaphor - either win so big you can have/do anything, or be forced into hard labor forever. Yep. But will this series be any good? 8 episodes dropping soon - stay tuned. // Continue Reading ›
