In January 1999, Steve and Debbie Willis welcomed low-cost tourists to Red Chilli, which was once a vacant construction site in Kampala. Back then, when Ugandan electricity allowed, the facilities were limited to a small area where you could set up your own tent, a few showers, and a few semi-cold drinks! How times have changed! No wifi, no hot water, and no beds! We relocated our tiny hideaway to the amazing location we now have in Butabika in September 2013. We are really pleased with the great amenities we offer in a capital city at a genuinely low cost, and we can accommodate over 100 guests in private rooms and dorm beds here.

In September 2002, the Uganda Wildlife Authority granted Red Chilli a concession to oversee the Rest Camp located in the core of Murchison Falls National Park. We have spent the last 17 years building both camps and making it possible for low-cost travelers to enjoy the splendor of Murchison and other breathtaking locations throughout Uganda after inheriting a collection of dilapidated mud huts. We are enthusiastic about safaris and continue to organize them even as proud members of AUTO (Association of Ugandan Tour Operators). We presently provide two distinct organized excursions to Murchison Falls, with at least one trip leaving every other day throughout the year. Additionally, we organize and conduct well-liked planned excursions of Queen Elizabeth and Kidepo, as well as custom programs upon request that include gorillas & tracking chimpanzees. Discover amazing views of the Rift Valley and its dramatic waterfalls; excellent opportunities for birdwatching; guided nature and community walks; authentic cultural experiences; superb big cat and other game viewing in customised open-top safari vehicles; rhino and chimpanzee tracking on foot; river cruises surrounded by hordes of hippos; and the mighty Nile crocodile. There truly is nowhere quite like Uganda, even though we freely acknowledge our slight bias!

Sadly, Steve passed away in November 2005, but Debbie still manages the Red Chilli today—with a ton of assistance! and thus the spirit of exploration and the desire for it endure! We would be delighted to impart our two decades of Ugandan tourism expertise to assist you in creating the vacation of your dreams. Kindly send us a message; we hope to hear from you and have the pleasure of welcoming you soon.
