A site surrounded by the lush, evergreen landscapes of Uganda's Great Crater Lakes region.
Papaya Lake Lodge is located around 350 kilometers west of Uganda's capital, Kampala, in one of the country's most attractive areas. The Great Crater Lakes area contains approximately 40 extinct volcanic craters that form a chain of lakes, each with its own distinctive shape, size, and color, as well as its own distinct environment. Two of these breathtaking sights are just on our doorstep. To the west, the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains rise above the area, bringing life to the valleys and rifts that are dotted with many vanilla, banana, coffee, and tea plantations.
Papaya Lake Lodge's distinct identity stems from the owners' brilliant blend of African tradition and modern eco-luxury.
Traditional Ugandan art comes to life here, infused with the beauty of the Great Crater Lakes and energized by local folk culture. Chic fusion food; homegrown fruits and veggies with spices and fragrances from around the world; handmade yet quietly elegant and unique décor and crafts built with local, hand-made materials; flawless guest service and a personal touch. These are Papaya's hallmarks, which will make you feel right at home.
