Amajambere Iwacu Community Camp (also known as Mgahinga Community Campground) is located near the entrance to Mgahinga National Park, just 12 kilometers from the southwestern town of Kisoro.
Visitors to the camp can experience breathtaking views of the famous Virunga Volcanoes while also trekking mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The camp is the ideal starting place for exploring the Virunga Volcanoes of Muhavura, Gahinga, and Sabyinyo.
Amajambere Iwacu Community Camp is located at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park's Ntebeko gate. If you're visiting Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to hike Mount Sabyinyo and Mount Gahinga, or to see gorillas and golden monkeys, Amajambere Camp is the only low-cost accommodation near the park's boundary at Ntebeko. The camp is approximately 45 minutes to an hour's drive from the nearby town of Kisoro.
Accessibility and Transport:
There is no public transit from Kisoro to the camp. If you don't want to drive into Kisoro, the best choice is to rent a car in the town. One-way automobile rental from Kisoro to the camp costs UGX100,000 (~$27) for a sedan. Taking a boda boda (motorbike) is the most inexpensive choice.
