Lake Albert Safari Lodge is one of the infrastructural improvements developed in Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve to provide guests with excellent accommodations at an affordable price. The lodge is completely furnished, includes a swimming pool, and has 11 lovely grass-thatched cottages.

Construction of the lodge began in 2005 and was completed in 2007. The lodge was built completely of local materials given by local community groups, and Lake Albert Safaris identified it as one of the first areas of financial value to the community.

In April 2005, the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Hoima District Local Government, and Lake Albert Safaris Limited (a commercial enterprise) formed a partnership to manage wildlife in Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve and the nearby Kaiso-Tonya Community Wildlife Area.

The Kabwoya-Kaiso-Tonya Collaborative Wildlife Management Partnership was one of Uganda's first private-public partnerships for wildlife management, and it has since grown to become one of the most successful. The partnership's goal is to build and sustain a wildlife-rich environment that benefits all stakeholders, including tourists and wildlife.

Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve is a hidden gem in the Albertine Rift Valley. It is distinguished by stunning waterfalls from the Rift Valley Escarpment, lonely savannah grasslands, and breathtaking views of Lake Albert and the spectacular Blue Mountains of Congo.

The reserve is 87 square kilometers in size and is bordered to the north by a community wildlife area known as Kaiso - Tonya. The two regions were formerly part of the Kaiso-Tonya Controlled Hunting Area, which was established in 1963. Even though it was designated a wildlife reserve in 2002, few people are aware of this hidden gem.
