<p>Our Courses&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Certificate of Proficiency (COP):</strong> The COP serves as the foundational course in insurance, introducing basic principles to those new to the industry. Tailored for fresh graduates or individuals with non-insurance qualifications, it's a fundamental step toward a successful career in insurance. Admission requirements include a minimum of three passes in Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or relevant professional qualifications. To complete COP, one accumulates at least 30 credits, covering subjects like Fundamentals of Insurance and core insurance courses.</p>

<p><strong>Certificate in Insurance (CIU):</strong> CIU offers a comprehensive introduction to insurance, grounding learners in basic principles with a focus on general and life insurance practices. This program is suitable for anyone seeking a broad understanding of insurance principles and products, employees in technical roles, and those working in support functions. Fees include UGX 300,000 per paper, registration fees, membership fees, and certification fees.</p>

<p><strong>Diploma in Insurance (DIU):</strong> Designed for aspiring technicians, supervisors, and those aiming for managerial responsibilities, DIU comprises 9 papers leading to specialization within the insurance profession. It's ideal for those wanting a recognized insurance qualification and seeking progression to the Advanced Diploma. The program is available online in the evenings, lasting three months per intake.</p>

<p><strong>Advanced Diploma in Insurance:</strong> Tailored for seasoned professionals aspiring to enhance leadership skills, the Advanced Diploma in Insurance is a strategic qualification that positively influences career trajectories. Targeting senior officers, managers, CEOs, and those holding DIU or an equivalent qualification, this program is a gateway to achieving chartered status and fellowship.</p>

<p>Our Academic Programs</p>

<p>• Master of Divinity (116 credit hours)</p>

<p>• Master of Arts in Theological Studies with an emphasis in either Biblical Counseling, Christian Education, or Pastoral Leadership (84 credit hours)</p>

<p>Two Options for Enrollment Full-Time:</p>

<p>For those able to devote full time to their studies.</p>

<p>Two Intakes for Full-Time Students</p>

<p>Part-Time: Designed for busy pastors and church leaders.</p>

<p>The first intake is the January Term Greek courses starting in early January. This enrollment qualifies the student to enter semester 1 courses that begin in February. The second intake, for the MDiv program, is the June Term Hebrew Courses that qualifies MDiv students for semester 2 courses. For the MATS program, the second intake is semester 2 courses that start in August. ARTS strongly encourages all full-time students to enroll in January, if possible, since this will enable the student’s academic program to proceed most optimally.</p>

<p><strong>Intakes for Part-Time Students</strong></p>

<p>You may opt to enroll in any course in your program offered each academic semester according to your availability (as long as foundational courses and prerequisites are fulfilled) and as long as the program is completed in a 5 year period for MATS and 6 years for MDiv.</p>

<p><strong>Student-Friendly Course Schedules</strong></p>

<p>• Five day concentrated courses are offered in two terms: February through May, and August through November, with January term Greek and June Term Hebrew (Hebrew is required for MDiv only). • Students enroll in one course at a time, 6 hours per day for five days.</p>

<p>• Students complete assignments and papers during and after each course.</p>

<p>• Students may commute or reside on campus. Some ARTS Distinctives</p>

                            <p>Vienna College Namugongo commenced in February 1999 as a result of an invitation by the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to Austrians to invest in the Ugandan Education sector.</p>

<p>Two notable Austrians, Brigadier Helmut Moser and Major Gabriel Rudolf partnering with Ugandan educationalist Dr. J.C. Muyingo mobilized resources to establish this project. Emmanuel Wamala, the Archbishop of Kampala archdiocese donated the land onto which Vienna College Namugongo sits today.</p>

<p>Vienna College Namugongo, is a private co-education institution. It opened its doors to International students early in January 2000, rapidly establishing itself as a haven for senior students from Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Europe, the United States and of course, its home setting- Uganda.</p>

<p>&nbsp;Vienna College is a University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Centre UG010 offering IGCSE, GCE “A” Level” courses and A.I.C.E Diploma Awards. <p><strong>GOVERNANCE</strong></p>

<p>QINES is an independent, for profit&nbsp;<strong>social enterprise</strong>&nbsp;committed to integrity, transparency and accountability in its governance and operations.&nbsp; The members of the school’s Board of Directors and the School Management Committee are Christians with a shared vision for extending development, literacy &amp; common good in Uganda by providing an excellent education.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Board of Directors</strong>&nbsp;are the legal custodians of the company and bear ultimate responsibility for the school.&nbsp; They safeguard the long-term academic quality and foundational values of the school by appointing the School Management Committee and by approving changes to the school’s mission and vision, annual budget and annual audit.</p>

<p>All lead teachers employed by QINES are certified to teach and have an international teaching background. Our teachers come from many different countries. Currently at QINES we have Ugandan, Kenyan, Tanzanian, British, Nigerian, Canadian, Ghanaian, South African, Egyptian and American teachers.</p>

<p><strong>VIRTUAL SCHOOL /CLASSROOM</strong></p>

<p>Our digital learning environment allows teachers and students to connect in online in real time. The virtual classrooms utilize video conferencing, online whiteboards and screen sharing to allow educators to hold live lessons, discussions with students in an interactive setting. We try our best to replicate the experience of physical classrooms, with the added benefits of file sharing, instant feedback and interaction and are ideal in distance learning situations.</p>

<p>This part of the school is highly customizable and is accessible to users on a variety of devices, smartphones, tablets and laptops.</p>

<p>We have approximately 250 children aged from 3 to16 in our school, from over 15 different countries.&nbsp; We encourage them to be ambitious in their learning and believe there is no limit to what they can achieve. Our pupils are confident and successful because our approach encourages children to think for themselves, to question, to make mistakes and to be resilient – skills that will last them for a lifetime.</p>

<p>We currently follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and 2&nbsp; British National Curriculum and the iPrimary Curriculum (Pearson Edexcel), Key Stage 3 and 4&nbsp; lower iSecondary and iProfessional development levels.&nbsp; We are affiliated to Cairo university. Our high expectations are not limited to academic success. We want our students to develop a love for learning and the confidence, courage, compassion and conviction to look at the world around them and act to make it a better place.                             <p>A school that takes the sting out of what society calls Disabled.</p>

<p>Kampala School for Physically Handicapped started in 1969, as a project by the Uganda Spastics Society (an indigenous non-profit making organization). The founder members of the Society had children with Cerebral Palsy, and thus aimed at improving the quality of life and rehabilitation of children with the affliction.</p>

<p>Sitting on about 5.5 aches, Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped is the only one of its kind in Uganda, combining Education, Rehabilitation and Vocational skill training to children with various disabilities aging from 6 – 21 years. With a population of 186 pupils and 42 teaching staff it is supported by a wide range of volunteers.</p>

<p>Endowed with a gleeful atmosphere, these amazing children tell the story.</p>

<p><strong>Vision</strong></p>

<p>A society with all round educated, physically handicapped people, able to contribute to national development</p>

<p>The school starts with a reception class.&nbsp; This class is pupil centered, and is structured to continuously assess the individual child to prepare the pupils for primary one.</p>

<p>From Primary One to Seven, KSPH follows the Ugandan National Curriculum for primary schools. Children do the required subjects that is English, Math, Science, and Literacy. &nbsp;When the child reaches primary seven they are required to sit for the National leaving exams (PLE) in order to advance to the next level of education.</p>

<p>In all classes, children are grouped according to their learning challenges with one lesson plan, having more than three approaches, to effectively help the individual children.</p>

<p>As part of its functional teaching, and seeking to orient every child toward their maximum independence and development the classes are divided into groups.</p>

                            <p>This is the only Health Tutors’ College in the Country and it is strategically located in Mulago Hospital Complex. It has been in existence since 1969.<br>
Health Tutors’ College Mulago (HTC Mulago) is a health tutor training Institution under Ministry of Education and Sports. It is affiliated to Makerere University through the College of Education and External Studies (CEES).<br>
HTC Mulago trains tutors in all health related disciplines who upon completion of their training, are responsible to train health workers in health training Institutions, whom after training work in health facilities all over the country and beyond.</p>

<p>History</p>

<p>The college started in the 1960s with only fourteen (14) students mainly offering diploma in health tutorship in nursing. But, due to the demand in other health disciplines, the college found it necessary to include midwives and other allied health professionals.</p>

<p>A Tradition of Success</p>

<p>From 2010, the college also upgraded from diploma in health tutorship to Bachelors degree courses. Currently, the college offers three programmes; namely, Bachelor in Medical Education (EDM), Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education (PGDME) and Higher Diploma in Clinical Instruction with an average number of about two hundred (200) tutor students.</p>

                            <p>We are the Oldest Public Nursing and Midwifery Training Institution in Uganda,Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery (MSNM) is a public training institution owned by the Ugandan Government under the Ministry of Education and Sports. Founded in 1955, under the British Colonial Government Policy of training health workers, Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery is the oldest Nursing Training Institution in Uganda. It is located on Mulago Hill, just 3 Kms from Kampala City Centre.The School is in a close proximity with Mulago National Referral and Teaching Hospital where most of the students get clinical placement for acquisition of affective and psychomotor skills.&nbsp; The school is regulated by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in conjunction with Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES). These bodies regulate the new courses, school fees structure and management of the school.</p>

<p><strong>Programs</strong></p>

<h2>DIPLOMA DIRECT PROGRAM(NURSING &amp; MIDWIFERY)</h2>

<p>Minimum entry requirements,For a learner to be admitted to the Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery Direct training Program, S/he must have the following qualifications; i. Uganda Certificate of Education with passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry in same sitting. ii. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with Principle Pass in Biology and two subsidiaries in Chemistry/ physics or Pass in any other science subjects in the same sitting iii. Possess equivalent qualification as may be verified by the mandated body iv. Must go through an application process either through the Government system or directly at the institution</p>

<h2>DIPLOMA EXTENSION PROGRAM</h2>

<p>Minimum entry requirements To be admitted to the Diploma in either Nursing or Midwifery Extension training Program, the applicant must; i. Possess a Certificate in Nursing or equivalent qualification as verified by the mandated body ii. Have practiced in the nursing profession for a minimum of two years iii. Have been enrolled or verified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council iv. Go through an application process either through the government system or directly at the institution</p>

<h2>ADVANCED DIPLOMA PALLIATIVE CARE NURSING</h2>

<p>Minimum entry requirements To be admitted to the Advanced Diploma in Palliative Care Nursing Program, the applicant must; i. Possess a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or its equivalent qualification as verified by the mandated body ii. Have practiced in the nursing profession for a minimum of two years iii. Have been enrolled or verified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council iv. Go through an application process either through the government system or directly at the institution</p>

It serves the purpose of providing Ordinary and Advanced Level Leavers with a chance to acquire knowledge, skills, competences and positive attitudes towards a 2-year beginning career course in medical laboratory training leading to the award of Certificate in Laboratory Techniques (CLT) and Certificate in Pharmacy Techniques by UAHEB. Diploma in Medical Laboratory is a three years course.</p>

<p>One of our principle activities is the provision of Low-cost but high quality training services to the students and the community, and seeing to it that they attain their Certificate and Diploma within a conducive environment.</p>

                            <p>&nbsp;BSPN was established in 1960 with the intention to train a specialized cadre of mental health nurses at certificate level as it was seen relevant by the Ministry of Health at that time. However the demanding need for a better skilled and knowledgeable human resource in mental health capable of competing in the outside market has continued to grow and led to the introduction of the post basic course in registered certificate mental health nursing in 1968. In 1970 a course for direct registered certificate mental health nurses was started to increase on the number of registered mental health nurses with competences to take charge of units and wards. In 2006 and 2008 the Diploma direct and extension courses in mental health nursing were introduced respectively to allow the advancement in psychiatric nursing, offer a better award and reduce on financial investment and to also allow entry to universities.<br>

The school has produced thousands of graduates since 1960 who are deployed in all parts of the world. This very school has also produced many prominent personalities, in very big positions, &nbsp;ministers, members of parliament and other political leaders, principal, registrars, tutors hospital managers and administrators.&nbsp;<br>

The school has a dedicated functioning Governing Council, teaching and non teaching staff and 12 departmental heads who direct the different departmental activities of the school</p>

                            <p>Gulu college of Health Sciences is a Government institution established in the 1950’s as a midwifery school to train students in medical research and health system through the implementation of research driven clinical practice and contributing to processes that promote quality, equitable and safe clinical service delivery with the engagement of the community, students, health workers, patients particularly in the fields of social disadvantage and indigenous health.</p>

<p>The College was transformed into a school for enrolled nurses and midwives in the 1970’s and later a school for Medical Assistants in the early 1980s. It remained a school for Clinical Officers until 2016 when Diplomas in Public Health Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Service Management and Anesthesia were introduced. The school is transiting to an allied health Institution training producing proffessional health officers</p>

                            <p>Gayaza Technical and Skills Development Centre was started in February 2006 to answer a call by the local community and opinion leaders to start a training institution with the main objective of equipping the youth with life skills through vocational and technical education so as to enable them discover their power of creativity and live a meaningful life.</p>

                            <p>The history of training technicians in the Engineering and Surveying in Uganda dates back to 1922 when a pioneering group of students were admitted to Makerere Technical College. Over time the Survey technicians’ course was transferred to Nakawa Vocational College in Kampala and to Survey Training School, Entebbe in 1944.</p>

<p>The Survey Training School was established by the British Government in 1944 at Katabi sub –county in the then Mpigi District and currently in Wakiso District for specialized training of technicians to generate National Maps and relevant data and it graduated the first batch of Ugandan Surveyors in the 1950s.</p>

                            <p>Uganda Martyrs Polytechnic College Soroti (UMPS), formerly known as Uganda Martyrs Vocational Institution (UMVI), was established by Soroti Catholic Diocese in 1996, to provide Vocational and Technical skills to youth from poor families that had been affected by the Uganda Peoples’ Army (UPA) war of 1986-1992 and the cattle rustling by armed Karimojong warriors. The UPA war came in the aftermath of the several decades of cattle rustling by Karimojong warriors. After the war and armed cattle rustling that ravaged Teso and left the region in dire economic poverty, many youth (orphans) in Teso were left vulnerable, and they were turning into a security risk for the communities. Most of these youth were already refugees living in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps within Soroti Municipality.<br>
<br>
Uganda Martyrs Vocational Institution was initiated in 1993, but officially commissioned in 1996. The school formally opened in 1996 with three courses, namely Brick-laying, Carpentry and Motor Vehicle Mechanics. The institution’s goal was to impart basic technical skills to primary seven leavers, and to those who had not reached primary seven, so that they could become economically productive in the community.<br>
<br>
The original major sponsor for UMVI was Soroti Catholic Diocese. The Diocese provided the initial funding, over 20 acres of land, and some buildings and machinery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Initially, UMPS (former UMVI) was fully donor-funded; but today the institution runs basically on school fees for its operation. In the recent past, the school partnered with various non-governmental organizations like Voluntary Service Overseas, Promotion of Private Training Providers, Save the Children and World Vision. These offered support through directly recruiting and sponsoring students to be trained in different courses at the Institution.<br>

UMPS infrastructure includes an assortment of workshops, dormitories, classrooms, dining hall, and staff houses that were originally constructed to hold a leaner number of students and staff.<br>

Today, UMPS runs 12 courses at Skills level, 7 courses at Community Polytechnic level, 8 courses at National Certificate level, and 4 programs at National Diploma level.&nbsp;</p>

                            <p>Welcome to the Management Training and Advisory Centre (MTAC), a dynamic body corporate operating under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives (MTIC). Established on July 14, 1964, as a Government of Uganda (GOU) project funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and executed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), MTAC has evolved into a pivotal institution dedicated to enhancing management practices and fostering entrepreneurship.</p>

                            <p>The Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) is an umbrella organization for Private Vocational Training Institutions in Uganda. It was established in the year 1998 and registered as a Non- Governmental Organization in the year 2000 under the NGO Statute 1989, on Registration No. S.5914/3350.</p>

<p>The Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) was formed to improve the quality and the image of private vocational institutions in Uganda, and to strengthen Business, Technical, Vocational Education and Training BTVET sector as a whole. Its main aim is to foster collaboration between private training institutions and to improve, not just the standards of the training provided, but also its relevance for the actual employment market. UGAPRIVI is a national organization with eight (8) regional offices covering all districts of the country. This ensures that poorer and structurally weaker areas are not left out of the initiative.</p>

                            <p>INSTITUTE BACKGROUND</p>

<p>Mengo vocational youth centre is a skills competence based training institution located along Hoima road, 9km from Kampala, Kayunga trading center, Wakiso town council, Wakiso district. It was established in 2011 as a community based training centre mainly to train skills to all kinds of youths most especially vulnerable, school dropouts and teenage mothers with in Wakiso district but in particular Wakiso town council.</p>

<p>In 2014 Mengo vocational youth centre transformed into a technical and vocational institute that aims at transforming youths through practical skills to reduce the increasing unemployment levels in Uganda. We engage our students in hands on skills, talent development in sports, music dance and drama, entrepreneurship through business practical trainings, business development and mentorship. By doing so, we professionalize their initiatives to sustain their livelihoods. We use inspirational and motivational talks from successful entrepreneurs, employment and business experts to inspire them to be able to develop their skills. They are encouraged to start-up with the little they can get for sustainability.</p>

<p>With our unique approach to vocational and technical skills trainings, we bring together change agents and well-wishers from all sectors with talents and abilities enabling to create more jobs and employment opportunities.</p>

<p>We provide mentorship and internship programs to unemployed youth from different companies/NGOs. These are trained in different skills and we assist them to start up their own initiatives. We also act as a source of information, monitoring, mentoring and coaching, capacity building and participation in different community initiatives to improve the wellbeing of youth in their communities.</p>

<p>Our students are assessed by directorate of industrial training (DIT), Uganda business and technical examination board (UBTEB) and Islamic university in Uganda (IUIU)</p>

                            <p>UGAPRIVI Academy is a capacity building Institution&nbsp;existing within the structure of the mainstream Uganda Association of Private Vocational Innstitutions. <p>Activities of the UGAPRIVI Academy</p>

<p>for successful trainings the UGAPRIVI Academy needs to ensure the availability and compliance with the following;</p>

<p>-occupation profile of an instructor in Uganda</p>

<p>-occupation profile of a TVET manager in Uganda</p>

<p>-occupation profiles of any other occupations neccessary to be trained is in accordance to the training needs assessment made.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -qualified &amp; Experienced facilitators/trainers</p>

<p>-Appropriate timing of the training especially targeting the available time of the target group</p>

<p>-Accurate definition of the objectives and the target group</p>

<p>-Activities which enhance co-operation and networking</p>

<p>RESPONSIBILITIES ON NATIONAL LEVEL</p>

<p>collect, update and analyze data on training needs; identify appropriate trainings for members accordingly; identify marketable trainings for income-generation; develop annual training programmes; allocate unique training numbers to each training; marketing of training programmes; document trainings; devise folloe-up trainings; develop and establish accredited certification system; build up a pool of resource people.</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI TARGETS</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI Academy is capable of rolling out capacity-building trainings of at least;</p>

<p>- 500 instructors per region of the eight regions in pedagogic skills per annum bringing the total to 4000 per annum.</p>

<p>- 200 Managers/Administrators of private vocational training in management of TVET institutions per region per annum i eight regions bringing it to 1600 managers/administrators in TVET institutions per annum.</p>

<p>CAPACITY TO MANAGE THE TRAININGS</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI Academy has the minimum requirements to manage the trainings as it has done in the past, however this massive trainings require the acdemy to be equipped in the following areas:</p>

<p>outsource the facilitators and trainings experts; buy more computers and accessories; hire better infrastructures in regard to offices and workshops; acquire better transport facilities to ease coordination of the trainings; improve on the staff emolutions.</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI TVET IN-SERVICE INSTRUCTOR HANDS-ON SKILLS UPGRADING &amp; CONTENT DELIVERY TRAINING</p>

<p><strong>Background </strong></p>

<p>There are not enough appropriate opportunities for Ugandan youth to learn vocational skills in public TVET Institutions alone. Against the background of continually increasing numbers of school leavers and the low capacity of Government owned TVET Institutions, the private TVET institutions deserve increased attention. The promotion of TVET and its values is one of the major components of UGAPRIVI’s tasks.<br>

<p>Administration</p>

<p>Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions has administrative structures who ensure its smooth running.</p>

<p>The General Assembly. The General Assembly is the extreme decision making body of UGAPRIVI and is a composition of fully paid up member Institutions, members from the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors.</p>

<p>The Board of Trustees. This is composed of the outstanding Ugandan citizens with knowledge and interest in skills development. They are the custodians of UGAPRIVI property, do fundraising for UGAPRIVI upon request by the Board of Directors, act as arbitrators and ensure continuity of UGAPRIVI. Located at plot No 1218 Kisosonkole Road off Kabaka Anjagala Road opposite KCCA Mengo offices</p>

<p>The Board of Directors; are elected Directors of the member institutions and are responsible for recruitment and supervision of the administrative staff, policies review, lobby and advocacy, monitoring and implementation of the programmes and generally ensures proper functionality of the association.</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI Administrative Staff. These are the full time employed staff of UGAPRIVI and conduct day do day administration of its activities. There are Administrative staff at the National Secretariat and at the Regional offices.</p>

	<li>To mediate and interface between its members, and develop strategic alliances with, private sector, Government, internal and external development partners.</li>

	<li>To lobby and advocate at government and Institutional level.</li>
	<li>To offer training for the management and staff of private vocational training.</li>
	<li>To support the development of quality standards and monitoring</li>
	<li>To develop, provide and commercialize customer oriented services.</li>
</ol>

<p>Problem Statement</p>

<p>Following the unavoidable policy changes coming into vocational education and training, ranging from the roll out of the competence based TVET Curriculum between 2016-2020 in National certificates offered at UGAPRIVI Institutions by National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), the government of Uganda cabinet approval of the TVET Policy 2019 giving guidance that all TVET training programmes, curriculum, assessment, management of institutions and methods of content delivery should be “employer-led” and coupled with the roll out of the modularized curriculum content by Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) in 2022, TVET trainers and instructors have not been supported to upscale the level of their hands-on skills competences to match with those required in the world of work to guarantee the transfer of similar skills to the trainees during skills transfer. In the similar way, trainers and instructors have remained using the out dated methods of delivering training as opposed to the new approaches of active teaching and learning methods required for the current modularized training through production among others. According to (Akol, 2023), the curriculum content and equipment availability in training institutions shall never be a problem in enabling trainees acquire competitive skills and competences but the problem relies entirely on the instructors skills, knowledge and agility in delivery approaches for the content. This is evident in some vocational training institutions that were supported with the state of art training equipment without instructors up skilling &nbsp;empowerment in the current technologies demanded in the world of work have left the training equipment redundant and the training delivery not being able to use the provided equipment. In such institutions, trainees have continued graduating when they are either half baked, in-competent and non-competitive in the job market or disappointed. Aware that one cannot create a hand-son skills job when he/she is not able to perform the tasks required of that job to meet the expectations and competition in the job market. Also that lack of TVET graduate expertise has not only supported innovation and creativity but also economy. The low skills level attainment and outdated practices among the TVET trainers and instructors has not only remained unattended but rather neglected yet it is central to the acquisition of competitive skills required in the job market and economy. Instructor competences required to transfer competitive hands-on skills to trainees is below 40% (Akol, 2022). That a TVET trainer or instructor is not able to transfer what he/she does not possess and beyond what he/she can perform. This, therefore, justifies the need for the TVET stakeholders to appreciate instructor up skilling and active teaching and learning empowerment as the way to activate creativity and innovation among the trainers, trainees and graduates.</p>

<p>Target Population/Group</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI is targeting to upscale competitive skills training for 4800 in-service trainers and instructors to be selected from the 862 UGAPRIVI registered member institution across Uganda. For an impact to be realized at a given institution, an average of 6 instructors shall at least need be trained.</p>

<p>Training Methodology and Implementation Strategies.</p>

<p>The up skilling and training for in-service instructors shall be implemented in a phased period of 5 years. With each academic year taking an average 800 instructors and trainers to be selected from about 150 UGAPRIVI registered member institutions. Ina total period of five years, all the target population and registered UGAPRIVI institutions shall have been covered and competitive vocational education and training skilling policy, and competence based assessment revitalized.</p>

<p>UGAPRIVI, in response to the demands from its members to re-train and upgrade the skills and competences to match with the current job market skills and TVET sector reforms, identified the need to empower the in-service instructors with competitive job market required skills, modern techniques and approaches of delivering the modularized and competence based curriculum content for effective training delivery in Uganda. This is considered ideal to have not only skilled but competent TVET trainers and instructors as a pre-condition to the success of implementing and achieving the goal of the TVET reforms and policies. It will also enable the trainers to have the capacity to transform training delivery that empowers its trainees and graduates with competitive, creative and innovative skills required in the job market. This training shall make contributions to the reduction of unemployment among the citizens and shall work as a marketing strategy to attract the public to appreciate the role of TVET in the development of Uganda’s economy, family and individual livelihood and development.</p>

<p>To appreciate the contribution of this training, continuous development certificate shall be awarded to the Instructors who would have shown proficiency and competency in their respective areas of expertise. UGAPRIVI in partnership with the industries, practicing experts in various sectors in the world of work, Kaliote Technical Teacher Training Institute, DIT Assessment officers, UBTEB Assessment officers shall participate in conducting the face to face contact training and industrial practical training to the instructors. The practical instructor assessment after training shall be carried out in the industrial setting practically to ascertain the level of competency for the instructors as opposed to theoretical approach of assessment. This an urgent intervention required to bridge any glaring gaps between what is being done at the training institutions and the world of work. It will also become a pillar in the implementation of the TVET policy reforms particularly in promoting training through production.</p>

<p>Among other areas of concern, the training shall focus on the following</p>

<ol>
	<li>Hands-on skills and competence upgrade training</li>
	<li>Industrial attachment and training delivery on world of work sites.</li>
	<li>Practical use of ICT in TVET content delivery</li>
	<li>Training delivery preparations, execution, assessment and records handling</li>
	<li>Training ethics and practice of instructors</li>
	<li>UGAPRIVI membership registration and skills development</li>
	<li>Training through production for sustainability and competitiveness</li>
</ol>

<p>The UGAPRIVI in-service training shall be conducted and organized by UGAPRIVI through its academy. <p>GIZ, this was in until 2012 having different organisations that formed the current GIZ, these include the following&nbsp; GTZ, Inwent, DED, PEVOT</p>

<p>Africa Development Bank in training 500 instructors in certificate of Instructor in Technical Teacher Education of kyambogo University.</p>

<p>VET Tool Box, this is a consortium of the European nations who sponsored the Instructor training of the Master Trainers in the year 2019 &amp; 2020 Master trainers were trained.</p>
