Martyrdom sport of St. Andrew Kaggwa, St. Denis SSebugwawo, St. Pontiano Ngodwe (at Kyamula) and Mukasa Musa

Munyonyo Martyrs' Shrine marks the beginning of the final journey of young Christians to their execution in Namugongo on June 3, 1886. After being sentenced to death at Munyonyo on May 26th (Wednesday), the convicted set off on their own walk to Calvary, a two-day journey to Namugongo that they completed on May 27th (Thursday). Some had already been slaughtered in Munyonyo, and some were killed along the road, but the most were burned alive in Namugongo on June 3rd.

The Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine consists of three locations in Kampala City: Munyonyo-Mulungu and Salaama-Kyamula, where three Uganda Martyrs gave their life for the sake of Christ. Churches and chapels were built in the locations of martyrs. Other Uganda Martyrs were executed in Namugongo after being sentenced to death in Munyonyo.
